Nonplanar 3D Printing of Epoxy Using Freeform Reversible Embedding

چکیده
Thermally cured thermoset polymers such as epoxies are widely used in industry and manufacturing due to their thermal, chemical, electrical resistance, mechanical strength toughness. However, it can be challenging 3D print thermally thermosets without rheological modification because they tend flow not hold shape when extruded cure times of minutes hours. printing inside a support bath addresses this by allowing the liquid polymer held place until is fully expands structures that printed extrusion limited layer-by-layer. Here, use Freeform Reversible Embedding (FRE) off-the-shelf epoxy into lattice using nonplanar reported. To do this, authors investigate how direction space impacts filament morphology fusion at intersections. Furthermore, advantages approach shown produce geometries show ≈ four greater specific modulus compared with other materials techniques.

3D Printing PDMS Elastomer in a Hydrophilic Support Bath via Freeform Reversible Embedding
Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) elastomer is used in a wide range of biomaterial applications including microfluidics, cell culture substrates, flexible electronics, and medical devices. However, it has proved challenging to 3D print PDMS in complex structures due to its low elastic modulus and need for support during the printing process. Here we demonstrate the 3D printing of hydrophobic PDMS pre...

متن کاملThree-dimensional printing of complex biological structures by freeform reversible embedding of suspended hydrogels
We demonstrate the additive manufacturing of complex three-dimensional (3D) biological structures using soft protein and polysaccharide hydrogels that are challenging or impossible to create using traditional fabrication approaches. These structures are built by embedding the printed hydrogel within a secondary hydrogel that serves as a temporary, thermoreversible, and biocompatible support. Th...
متن کاملFreeform 3D Printing: Towards a Sustainable Approach to Additive Manufacturing
Most additive manufacturing technologies, such as 3D printing, utilize support materials in the fabrication process. Beyond the technical challenges of support removal, these materials are wasteful – increasing fabrication and processing time while impacting quality. This paper presents “Freeform Printing”, a novel design approach for 3D printing without additional auxiliary structures. A 6-axi...
متن کاملSculplexity: Sculptures of Complexity using 3D printing
We show how to convert models of complex systems such as 2D cellular automata into a 3D printed object. Our method takes into account the limitations inherent to 3D printing processes and materials. Our approach automates the greater part of this task, bypassing the use of CAD software and the need for manual design. As a proof of concept, a physical object representing a modified forest fire m...
